About

Our Story

We want to create a world where adventure is always possible. We shouldn't all have to buy the kit for it to sit in storage. Let's make better collective use of what we have.

How it all began

KitUp was born out of Bruce's frustration. His time was split between London and Edinburgh and he would spend hours driving up and down the country, with surfboards, bikes, skis and his Springer Spaniel, Lexi in the car. It was tiring and he wished he could just take the train. If only there was a way of getting access to the kit he wanted, when he wanted to use it. Chatting to his childhood friend, Ewan about the problem, he said "I have 2 just sitting in the garage, borrow one from me when you are here". The lightbulb went off.

Bruce and Ewan spent the weekend talking about how it would work. What they wanted to build was simple, a marketplace where anyone could rent the equipment they wanted to have an adventure!

On a mission to reduce carbon footprint, one kit rental at a time

KitUp HQ envisions a world where most people don't need to own kit. Instead, they have an access to all of the kit that everyone owns - both businesses and individuals! They will always be able to find what they need.

In this world, adventure is not something that people dream of. It is a reality that everyone can enjoy, whenever they want to, resulting in a happier and healthier population. At the same time, reduced production of outdoor equipment means a reduced impact on the environment - the one we need to enjoy our adventures.

Who We Are

"You know where I wanna be right now? Right here. Nowhere else. Not in the future, not in the past. This is what I worked for all my life." --Yvon Chouinard

What We Stand For

Adventure.
Travel and adventure go hand in hand. They allow us to experience excitement, enjoyment and exhilaration. KitUp allows you to travel freely, without the worry of transporting your surfboard or you bike- something that our founders have had to do for years, always wishing there was another solution! If you have not yet found your outdoor passion, let KitUp help you as you can try these incredible activities at a fraction of the cost of buying the kit.

Sustainability.
Climate Change is real, and is having a significant impact on outdoor environments that we love and depend on all over the world. We already produce too much and the only way to get to net zero is to consume less. KitUp allows people to take part in outdoor activities without buying all the equipment. Our kit spends so much time not getting used so lets pitch in together and use each other's kit rather than buying everything we might ever need. Borrow, don't buy.

Community.
KitUp is about building a community of like minded individuals that love the outdoors, care about the environment and want to get the most out of their equipment. KitUp allows people that have never tried an activity to meet and speak to (and hire from) very experienced businesses and individuals and can learn from them. It is not just about kit, its about awareness, learning and meeting new people.
